As you consider goals for 2023 remember to include how you process life’s challenges. You cannot go to just anyone for insight and direction. Who you are connected to can either catapult you into your destiny or derail you. Godly connections are critical.
"Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example], Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers)." (Psalm 1:1-2 AMPC)
Take time in God’s Presence and in His Word to seek His counsel. Everything we need can be found in the Word of God. Sometimes we may need help seeing it or even understanding how to apply it to our lives. That’s when you ask the Lord to show you who you can ask for prayer and direction. When you're facing life's challenges and everything is in turmoil, you can take a moment and seek another spiritually mature believer to help you get God's perspective.
"Don’t continue to team up with unbelievers in mismatched alliances, for what partnership is there between righteousness and rebellion? Who could mingle light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14 TPT)
There is wisdom in seeking the counsel of others who are wise
Counselor - yâʻats, to advise; reflexively, to deliberate or resolve:—advertise, take advise, advise (well), consult, (give, take) counsel(-lor), determine, devise, guide, purpose (Strong's H3289)
Listen to others. We need wise counsel. "Where there is no counsel, purposes are frustrated, but with many counselors they are accomplished." (Proverbs 15:20 AMPC) "Your testimonies also are my delight and my counselors." (Psalm 119:24 AMPC)
Think seriously about who you seek advice from. Remember, the world does not have God's perspective, so don't seek their advice.
"Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character.” (I Corinthians 15:33 AMPC)
We are not meant to do anything alone or move based solely on our own counsel:
"Where no wise guidance is, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." (Proverbs 11:14 AMPC)
"Purposes and plans are established by counsel; and [only] with good advice make or carry on war." (Proverbs 20:18 AMPC) "For by wise counsel you can wage your war, and in an abundance of counselors there is victory and safety." (Proverbs 24:6 AMPC)
Don't make life altering decisions during temporary challenges. Therefore, you should not isolate yourself in times of stressful situations. Your vision is distorted, and you can make life altering decisions based on wrong, unclear, or emotional information! Continue to seek God. He has the answers.
Get connected! Stay connected! Don't become an easy target for the enemy to pick off.
FAITH CONFESSION:
Lord, help me to recognize those You have placed in my life to walk alongside me, to counsel me, and to help to grow, spiritually and in wisdom. Also help me recognize those I need to avoid or possibly disconnect from. I will embrace the discipline, correction, and instruction of the wise in my life. Let Your Kingdom come, and Your will being done on earth, as it is in heaven, through me.
Be Encouraged! ❤
