“Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.” (Galatians 6:4-5 MSG)
You must stay focused on your purpose. Comparison is a deadly trap that invites you to be discontented, disillusioned, and discouraged. It causes you to devalue what God has given you. And because you cannot become someone else, you'll live a life of disappointment instead of the wonderful life God planned just for you.
God has uniquely gifted you with exactly what He wants you to have, so you can do what He has called you to do. When you compare yourself to others you deny the gift you are and imply that God got it wrong, while thinking you can do it better. Of course, you would never consciously do that. However, to want what someone else has instead of being thankful for what God has placed in you is doing exactly that. Ultimately, you're complaining.
Instead of comparing yourself to others celebrate the greatness God has placed in you! Cheer each other on to the glory of God. Don't strive to be a replica, a copy, or a poor imitation when you were created to be a Divine Original, God's Masterpiece!
Comparison is a tool of the enemy! It's a distraction to get you off course! Don't fall into it! No one can be you better than you can!
Be advised, the comparison game only diminishes us. We are each wonderfully unique and bring something of value to the table!
“You are the one who put me together inside my mother’s body, and I praise you because of the wonderful way you created me. Everything you do is marvelous! Of this I have no doubt.” (Psalm 139:13-14 TLB)
Celebrate your value based on who God created you to be!
Remember this:
There is great value in you. God did not make you less than anyone else. Instead, He gave you special gifts and empowerment to do what He created you to do. Don't waste time on what others are doing.
Let me give you some words of encouragement:
Don't minimize your accomplishments based on comparison. Your journey is not someone else's journey. While you may be on the same journey your paths may be different. That doesn't make your journey any less valuable.
“Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives. That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.” (Galatians 5:25-26 MSG)
Chose who God created you to be over wanting, or trying, to be someone else or desiring to walk in someone else’s gift. Choose obedience to God over trying to do it your way, or someone else's way. God's way is the only way to guarantee success.
Be Encouraged! ❤
