“Just because something is technically legal doesn’t mean that it’s spiritually appropriate. If I went around doing whatever I thought I could get by with, I’d be a slave to my whims.” (I Corinthians 6:12 MSG)
Just because I can doesn’t mean I should. While it may be permissible, I must ask, when considered with other things, is it helpful, good, expedient, and profitable.to me or to others? I don’t want to be a slave to anything or brought under its power. (See II Corinthians 6:12 AMPC) I don’t want to just get by because I can. I want to live a spiritually rich and empowering life that honors God and encourages others.
“Not everything is advantageous to you. You have to determine what is beneficial, and you define what is beneficial based on the needs of your vision." (Dr. Myles Munroe)
Vision is the barometer for creating processes, setting priorities, and determining the benefits. When determining what to do I must see where it sits in relation to my vision.
I must ask myself some questions:
Does it move me forward, backward, or keep me stagnant?
Is what I’m going to do profitable to the vision?
Is it a waste of time?
Is it a distraction?
Knowing the answers to these questions determines what I should do. So, it’s very important to ask these questions before committing to anything. If I do not there could be a lot of movement, energy expended, but no real progress.
Like Mary, I must choose the needful thing.
“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:42 NLT)
“Even though you can do anything in life, the only things that should master you are things that line up with God’s Word and ways – and that will lead you to your personal vision. Something is beneficial if it relates to what you want to accomplish and takes you to your goal.” (Dr. Myles Munroe)
I must know what benefits me and sometimes I have to ask myself, what is the benefit in doing this? This will help me to stay vision focused and keep me from wasting valuable time.
Be Encouraged! ❤
