“What delight comes to those who follow God’s ways! They won’t walk in step with the wicked, nor share the sinner’s way, nor be found sitting in the scorner’s seat. Their pleasure and passion is remaining true to the Word of “I Am,” meditating day and night in his true revelation of light.” (Psalm 1:1-2 TPT)
As you continue setting goals for 2023 consider your choices, the decisions you make, how you make them.
Psalms 1 is a reminder to believers about how to make choices and decisions anchored in Jesus, Who is the way, the truth, and the life. It also clearly shows the path of destruction for wrong choices. It reminds you to stay connected to God and to choose wisely who you hang out with. Your choices connect you to people.
You are not to follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners or join a group of mockers. In other words, you shouldn’t seek advice from unbelievers, do what’s popular in the world when it conflicts with the Word, or join in, becoming connected with those destroying people with their mouths. Instead, your delight is the Lord’s instruction.
This is about spending time in God’s Presence and in His Word, doing what Joshua 1:8 tells us:
“This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.” (Joshua 1:8 AMPC)
When you do this, you become anchored in Jesus, nourished by Him and bear fruit. You can be assured of your eternity, without fear of judgment. The Lord watches over the righteous while the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
“But how different it is for the righteous! The Lord embraces their paths as they move forward while the way of the wicked leads only to doom.” (Psalm 1:6 TPT)
