Chosen by God!
“So Ruth lay at Boaz’s feet until the morning, but she got up before it was light enough for people to recognize each other. For Boaz had said, “No one must know that a woman was here at the threshing floor.” Then Boaz said to her, “Bring your cloak and spread it out.” He measured six scoops of barley into the cloak and placed it on her back. Then he returned to the town.” (Ruth 3:14-15 NLT)
Boaz protected Ruth’s honor by making sure she wasn’t seen in the morning. He also made sure that she knew he wasn’t taking advantage of her and would protect her. Additionally he provided for her and Naomi by sending some barley home with her. He then proceeded to town to make his claim as the kinsmen redeemer.
This is a reminder to live honorably at all times. It also takes it a step further showing us that our relationships must be honorable also. Through Ruth’s character and obedience she was about to be redeemed from a hard life, the stigma being a widow, and not having protection. This is exactly what relationship with God, through Jesus Christ, does – redeems us from a life of sin and eternal separation from Him. It protects us as we walk through this life. All we have to do is allow ourselves to be covered by Jesus’ blood. He paid the price that we couldn’t. Everything pertaining to our salvation, our eternity was taken care of on the cross and in Jesus’ resurrection and ascension into heaven. We are covered!
PRAYER:
Lord You are my Redeemer. Because of You I can live in peace and die knowing that my eternal home is assured. Hell and the grave no longer have power over me because of Jesus. You have covered me with Your grace, mercy, compassion, and love, leaving nothing to chance. Thank You for planning every detail of my natural life and my eternal life. I praise You Abba Father. You are Awesome. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
