Chosen by God!
"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." (Hosea 4:6a NKJV)
The world says, what we don't know won't hurt us. The Word says, what we don't know will destroy us.
“Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.” (II Timothy 2:15 AMPC)
It is so important to study the Word personally in addition to corporately. Church on Sunday and mid-week Bible study isn’t enough. It’s a beginning, like an appetizer, a good place to start but you still want the rest of the meal.
Your pastor cannot be solely responsible for your spiritual growth and maturity. You must participate in becoming all the Word says you can become. This only happens when you spend quality time in God’s presence and in His Word. Just like food nourishes us, strengthens us, and help us to grow in the natural so God’s Word nourishes us, strengthens us and grows our Spirit. Just like when we don’t eat right or get the proper nutrients in the natural, causing malnutrition and sickness, the same can happen to our Spirits when we don’t feed consistently on the Word!
No word – no power, no growth, no strength – just stagnation and eventual death!
Invest time in the Word daily. Apply its Truth to every situation you face. When we do this we will grow and quickly uncover the lies, deceptions, and tactics of the devil. The Word arms us for victory because the Word exposes the enemy. Jesus’ battle plan is in the Word and He does not, has not, and will not fail!
Let this be your prayer:
"Barricade the road that goes Nowhere; grace me with your clear revelation. I choose the true road to Somewhere, I post your road signs at every curve and corner. I grasp and cling to whatever you tell me; God, don’t let me down! I’ll run the course you lay out for me if you’ll just show me how." (Psalm 119:29-32 MSG)
