Chosen by God!
In order to see ourselves as God sees us we must look from His perspective. Everything God thinks about us and feels for us is outlined in His Word. Our first point was, “Know Who You Are.” Today we will look at our second point:
#2 – Be Aware of Your Thoughts.
The battle is won or lost in our minds. The things we focus on and think about begin to dominate us. If we're focused on the wrong things then we will have wrong thoughts, words, and actions. The mind truly is a battlefield.
It begins with a thought. Then thoughts become words. Then words become actions. By that time you're full in. That's how powerful our thoughts are! We must control our thoughts.
"Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed." (Proverbs 16:3 AMPC)
Let God control your thoughts then your plans will be established and you will succeed.
God wants our minds stayed on Him. The devil uses our minds to control our actions. If he can get us thinking wrong then inevitably our words will be wrong, and then our actions will be wrong. How do you counteract that?
“Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.” (Philippians 4:8-9 MSG)
We must think about what we are thinking about.
This would indicate that we have a choice in our thoughts. We can deny Satan the right to occupy space in our minds just by changing our thoughts. When our thoughts move in the wrong direction let's choose to meditate on the Word of God to get them back in the right direction. Start quoting Scripture, Satan is not going to hang around the Word.
Don't let Satan devour you because you're not thinking! This is a battle that requires our full attention to win. Make a choice about who you are going to let control you and your thoughts. Satan can only do to us exactly what we allow him to do. He uses our thoughts, our feelings, and eventually our actions. Close access to Satan by opening access to the Word. Meditate on it day and night.
“This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.” (Joshua 1:8 AMPC)
“So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” (Romans 12:1-2 MSG)
Prayer:
Change me Abba Father from the inside out. I desire Your Word to be my anchor, rooting me securely in You. Let Your Word be my compass showing me Your way in every situation I face. I want You to develop well-formed maturity in me. Thank You for bringing out the best in me. Hallelujah! I declare in the Mighty Name of Jesus I am not the same. My thoughts are controlled by You Father. I have resisted the devil and he must flee. I have the victory. I pray this prayer in faith and on the authority of the Name of Jesus. Amen.
