Chosen by God!

"For each tree is known and identified by its own fruit. For figs are not picked from thorn bushes, nor is a cluster of grapes picked from a briar bush." (Luke 6:44 AMP)

We must be on guard against claiming to believe in God while acting as if He does not exist. It is important for all of us who profess to believe in God and Jesus Christ to, at some point, test the reality of our faith. It’s easy to say we believe, however, do our actions, how we live, reflect the faith we profess? In other words, would anyone recognize us as believers or as people of faith?

Our faith isn’t something we pick up on Sunday’s for church and put away when we get home. Our faith is a way of life and governs our lives. It’s easy to believe when everything is going good and we can tangibly see, and feel, God’s blessings in our lives. What happens when He’s silent, you lose your job, your finances are on empty, your children or spouse are acting crazy, and all of the other challenges we can face in life? Does your faith sustain you, or do you begin to doubt God or His very existence? We must test our faith in the good times and in the bad times. Do we look the same? Do we talk the same? Can we give thanks no matter what is going on in our lives?

When the storm comes isn’t the time to see if you have everything you need. It’s during the quiet times of life that you build your faith, securely anchoring it in Him, so you’re ready for the storms! When it’s raining is not the time to build an ark! It’s only through establishing and maintaining an intimate relationship with Him by spending time in His Presence and in His Word. There are no shortcuts! Our relationship with the Lord must be intentional.
